Hi, this is Nick. 

      A little bit about me: I'm a Japanese major at East Tennessee State University, and I'm spending the spring semester of 2023 in Osaka, Japan studying at Kansai Gaidai University. I plan to enroll in a cooking class, an art and design class, a history class, and two language classes. I also plan to post pictures and stories here throughout the week.

      Last year, I studied abroad in Ecuador, England, and Eastern Europe. On the trip to Ecuador, I worked with the ETSU Honors College to create a cultural experience kit that showcased something I learned. The trip to England was part of a class that focused on human rights in British literature and culture. The trip to Eastern Europe was sponsored by the ETSU music department. As a singer in the ETSU Chorale, I got to perform in cathedrals and castles across Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary. I'm so excited for this next chapter in my international adventures.

 

      Hi, this is Miranda!

      I'm a Media and Communications major at ETSU with Storytelling and Japanese minors. I'm studying at Kansai Gaidai University as well this spring semester, 2023. I'm going to be the second contributor to this blog. I'll be taking communication classes along with two language classes. 

     International travel and international communication have been an interest of mine since high school. I've studied abroad in Ecuador and England before, but I'm excited to now be on a semester-long trip. I especially hope to grow in my language acquisition and experience how Japanese culture differs from my experiences in America and in the classroom.
