10 Days and Counting!

Published on 9 January 2023 at 11:45

Hey everyone!

My fiancé Miranda and I are students at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City Tennessee. This spring, we are spending 133 days studying at Kansai Gaidai University in Japan! We are both so thankful for everyone who made this opportunity possible. Thank you to our parents for their support and advice. Thank you to Dr. Keller, JoAnn Doll and the rest of the ETSU honors department for application, preparation and scholarship help.

I'm so excited for this trip. Only 10 days until we leave!

When do you leave?

We will fly out of Charlotte airport on January 19th.

We will fly back to the US on June 2nd, 2023.

What will you do there?

We are studying abroad, so a lot of time will be dedicated to our classes. In addition to our language classes, we plan to take a cooking class, a Japanese art and design class, and a history class.

The school also offers cultural experience trips to the international students. So, some weekends and holidays might be spent with other students travelling the countryside. More to come on this.

And our own curiosity will envitably lead us to food markets, temples, beaches, physics labs, and so much more. We hope to make the most of this trip and truly immerse ourselves in Japanese culture.

How can we contact you?

I don't have our mailing addresses yet, but check out the contact page of this blog site. You can also leave comments on our blog posts.

On-campus WiFi will enable us to send and recieve SMS messages without international fees, so feel free to text us.

And our email addresses are always a good option! (again, see the contact page)

Your fiancé?? When did you get engaged!

Miranda and I got engaged on Christmas day. So sorry if we hadn't told you yet.
